Draw announced for 2025 YONEX All England Open

The draw for the 2025 YONEX All England Open has been made, with a series of mouth-watering match-ups across all five disciplines.

With just one week until the tournament begins, the 32 players and pairings have found out who they will face in their first match of the world’s oldest badminton competition.

The players will not have to wait long to get the action underway with proceedings set to kick-off on the 11 March at the Utilita Arena Birmingham.

Men’s Singles

Defending champion Jonatan Christie will start his title defence as third seed against Malaysia’s Jun Hao Leong.

Top seed and 2018 winner Yu Qi Shi will face Christie’s compatriot, Indonesian Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo, while there will be two big clashes between Denmark and Chinese Taipei.

Fourth seed and Olympic champion Viktor Axelsen faces Chun-Yi Lin, while second seed Anders Antonsen is drawn against Yu Jen Chi.

Women’s Singles

South Korea’s An Se Young, who enters as top seed, will begin her bid to reclaim the crown she won in 2023 against China’s Fang Jie Gao.

While Gao’s compatriots Zhi Yi Wang and Yue Han, who are seeded second and fourth, will face Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara and Chinese Taipei’s Yu Po Pai respectively.

Akane Yamaguchi who is seeded third will face Thuy Linh Nguyen in the round of 32.

Men’s Doubles

Indonesia’s Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto will start their bid for a history-making third successive win against Chinese duo Bo Yang Chen and Yi Liu as fourth seeds.

They will have to face second seeds Sze Fei Goh and Nur Izzuddin from Malaysia before the final, if both pairs win their matches.

The Malaysians will hope to kickstart their competition with a win against Kim Gi Jung and Kim Sa Rang from South Korea.

Top seeded pair Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen will face Muhammad Shohibul Fikri and Daniel Marthin in the round of 32.

Women’s Doubles

Top seeded pair Baek Ha Na and Lee So Hee from South Korea will start their tournament against India’s Priya Konjengbam and Shruti Mishra.

With pairs from South Korea having won the last two Women’s Doubles at the YONEX All England, the pair will be hoping to continue the trend for a third year in a row.

The feat is less likely for their compatriots as the other two South Korean pairings have been drawn against each other in the round of 32.

Second seeded Chinese pairing Sheng Shu Liu and Ning Tan will face Canadian duo Jacqueline Cheung and Catherine Choi to start their title challenge.

Mixed Doubles

In the mixed doubles, it will be the Malaysians who are favourites to win as they occupy the first and second seeds.

Top seeds Soon Huat Goh and Shevon Jemie Lai will face Thai Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Supissara Paewsampran in the round of 32.

Their second seeded compatriots Tang Jie Chen and Ee Wei Toh will begin their competition against Indonesia’s Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto and Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja.
